Description
Photo of South Main Street looking North. Probably taken from the Penobscot Times Office on the second floor of the Bickmore Building. Shows Fish Garage (with Esso Gas Station) in the right bottom corner and Dave's Corner (another gas station) in the back. The only thing visible of Strand's is its marquee, which announces the showing of The Adventures of Hajji Baba. As this movie was released in early 1954, the photo probably dates from that year as well. The occasion may have been a parade as people seems to be looking on and police officers seem to be directing traffic at Folsom Square.
